Northwestern Medicine Is a Best Place to Work for Individuals With Disabilities

For the third consecutive year, Northwestern Medicine has been named one of the Best Places to Work for Disability Inclusion in 2023 by Disability:IN.

“Recognitions like this are a testament to the work that our teams put in every day to make the workplace more comfortable for our colleagues with disabilities,” explains Diane Wayne, MD, vice president, Administration, Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, and chief medical officer, Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

This recognition is based on the Disability Index, a national benchmarking tool which considers several criteria for scoring, including but not limited to how workplaces hire, engage with and support employees with disabilities.

Erin Kinahan, vice president, Office of General Counsel, Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, and co-executive sponsor of the Northwestern Medicine Champion Network Disability Chapter, says teams at Northwestern Medicine are continually looking for ways to better accommodate the needs of others within the organization.

“To offer the best care to our patients, we have to take care of our teams, too,” says Kinahan.
