The salary range for this position is $44.69 - $62.57 (Hourly Rate)

Description

The  Echo Tech III  reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

The echocardiography technician performs inpatient and outpatient echocardiography procedures as ordered by a physician. These echo procedures include 2-D, M-Mode echocardiography, pulsed, continuous wave, color and tissue doppler procedures on the adult, pediatric and neonatal patient population. Assists with stress echocardiography and transesophogeal echo procedures. All functions of this role shall be performed within the guidelines of the department and hospital policies. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrates familiarity with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook and Internet Explorer.
  • Demonstrates familiarity with digital lab organization.
  • Demonstrates competency in use of telemedicine system for retro and live transmission of echo studies Performs adult 2-D, M-Mode, pulsed, continuous and color doppler echocardiograms per policy and procedure.
  • Performs adult transesophogeal echo per policy and procedure.
  • Performs adult stress echo per policy and procedure.
  • Provides timely call coverage per department policy and procedure.
  • Demonstrates the ability to state rationale for imaging decisions based on critical thinking.
  • Explains procedure to patient.
  • Documents routine and exceptional information relevant to testing.
  • Archives and retrieves study images.
  • Performs all aspects of patient care in a manner, which optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
  • Communicates clinical information accurately and effectively.
  • Communicates operational information accurately and effectively.
  • Performs pediatric 2-D, M-Mode, pulsed, continuous and color doppler echocardiograms per policy and procedure.
  • Performs pediatric transesophogeal echo per policy and procedure.
  • Performs pediatric stress echo per policy and procedure.
  • Maintains competency in echo contrast (determine the need for contrast, review for contraindications or side effects, and proficiently meets competency in the administration of contrast agents).
  • Participates in Lab ICAEL accreditation activities.
  • Precepts sonographer interns.
  • Participates in continuing education opportunities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required:

  • Pediatric echocardiography experience. Must demonstrate imaging skills
  • 1 year of experience
  • Associate Degree with one year relevant experience or Graduate from accredited cardiac ultrasound program
  • CPR certification within 6 months
  • Active ARDMS or CCI Echo registry status
  • Graduate from accredited cardiac ultrasound program
  • Computer application aptitude, medical equipment touchpads, obtaining blood pressures.
  • Must be flexible to scheduling changes including overtime, weekend, holiday and on call hours.
  • Registered ARMS adult sonographer. A non-registered pediatric sonographer.
  • CERT BLS
  • Registered ARDMS
  • Physical Demands Requirement:
    •  Physical demands required for this role include lift/carry up to 50 pounds and a push/pull force up to 50 pounds

Preferred:

  • 3 years’ experience in telemedicine transmissions helpful
  • Spanish speaking a plus
