Description

The Mobile Stroke Unit CC Paramedic reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides direct and indirect advanced levels of patient care for medical emergencies under the direct or indirect supervision of a Registered Nurse and/or Physician.
  • Functions as a member of the Mobile Stroke Unit Critical Care transport team and is responsible for the care of critically ill or injured patients with special focus on the stroke patient.
  • Provides advanced critical care to critically ill or injured patients in adherence with established protocols and standards of care.
  • Demonstrates reasonable judgment when necessary to provide patient care in any environment; using resources that are required or made available.
  • Documents appropriate assessment, interventions, and other pertinent patient information in a timely manner.
  • Collects and promptly documents demographic, medical necessity, and other necessary billing information.
  • Demonstrates a patient-centered focus in a high stress environment at all times along.
  • Demonstrates the ability to establish a rapport with customers; including the ability to create and sustain a positive relationship.
  • Ensures the safety of patients and all others functioning in and around the Mobile Stroke Unit.
  • Utilizes appropriate safety channels to report safety concerns, and uses tools available to enhance a safe work environment.
  • Maintains safe loading, unloading, adjustment of head of stretcher, and stretcher movement.
  • Maintains supplies, ensures ambulance and equipment maintenance.
  • Minimum of 12 hours of critical care CE, 12 hours of stroke education annually. Annual Competencies of expanded scope of knowledge, equipment, and procedures shall be completed.
  • Participates constructively in the peer-review driven quality improvement program.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum of 2 years of current critical care experience.
  • AHA ACLS and BLS.
  • PEPP or PALS.
  • ITLS or PHTLS.
  • 80 hours of higher collegiate education or equivalent in critical care education (CCEMT-P, University of Iowa CCP).
  • NIHSS certification (within 60 days of hire).
  • NIMS 100, 200, 400, 800, and 20.16 (within 60 days of hire).

Preferred:

  • Minimum of 5 years of current critical care experience.
  • NREMT-P. FP-C, CCP-C.
  • IDPH lead instructor.
