The salary range for this position is $56.00 - $60.00 (Hourly Rate)

Placement within the salary range is dependent on several factors such as relevant work experience and internal equity. For positions represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range is guided by the rules outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.

Description

West Operating Room Registered Nurse is a clinically competent, registered, professional nurse who prescribes, delegates and

coordinates nursing care to the surgical patient through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation and

evaluation. Effectively interacts with patient, significant others, and other health team members, while maintaining ANA and AORN

standards of professional nursing practice.

  • Involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care, including teaching, continuum of care and discharge planning.
  • Demonstrates support and awareness of daily schedule by expediting on-time starts and efficient turnover time between procedures.
  • Demonstrates effective hand-off to next healthcare provider.
  • Nursing Process- Collects and analyzes data, identifies expected outcomes, develops and implements an individualized plan, coordinates care delivery and evaluates progress toward attainment of outcomes.
  • The RN directs care and determines the appropriate utilization of any assistant involved in providing direct patient care.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge of the ability to report and arrange for repair of surgical equipment.
  • Demonstrates competence in use of complex surgical equipment and supplies.
  • Collaborates and communicates effectively with anesthesia, physician and team to review and evaluate the plan of care.
  • Demonstrates use of key words and behaviors, AIDET and rounding techniques to achieve excellent patient relationships.
  • Meets current standards and policies for nursing documentation. Provides documentation that is timely, accurate, up-to-date, complete and legible. Has their nursing documentation audits done.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of accurate charging for equipment and supplies.
  • Fosters learning experiences of nursing students, float pool staff, and new team members by mentoring. Performs clinical preceptor role inclusive of documentation.
  • Attends or reads all staff meeting minutes.
  • Demonstrates professional development and commitment to CDH values and code of conduct.
  • Maintains and demonstrates knowledge of JCAHO, IDPH, CMS and AORN regulations and requirements. Membership in professional organizations.
  • Engages in teamwork as a team player and a team builder.

  • Research- Utilizes the best available evidence, including research findings to guide practice decisions.
  • Uses the results of quality improvement activities to initiate changes in nursing practice and in the healthcare delivery system.
  • Participates in shared governance, committee work, and unit projects.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Must possess three or more years of current acute nursing experience within past 5 years in 3 areas in Women and Children’s Services. Candidates for Women and Children’s Services with experience in 2 areas will be considered but, must be willing to train in a third area.
  • Completion of an accredited Registered Nurse program. BSN required for all new hires as of 1/1/2011. Must have PALS and/or NRP certification based on which areas they are floating.
  • Basic computer knowledge. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Excellent customer service skills. Consistently works within the framework of the Illinois Practice Act for Nursing and ANA Standards of Professional Nursing Practice. Ability to assess and determine situations requiring an interpreter and to use interpreter services effectively.
  •  CERT BLS, LIC RN 

Preferred:

  • CERT NRP, CERT PALS
