The salary range for this position is $55.21 - $66.26 (Hourly Rate)

Placement within the salary range is dependent on several factors such as relevant work experience and internal equity. For positions represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range is guided by the rules outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.

Description

The Manager Finance RMG reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Memorial Hospital, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory standards.

Manages CPG Finance/Accounting activies, i.e. financial reporting, budgeting, and daily business oversight of those organizations. Prepares reports which summarize company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, and present operations. Interprets financial results and issues financial statements on a timely basis to executive management. Coordinates audits of company's accounts. Oversees the preparation and other financial forecasting (including five year plan) for companies he/she provides financial oversight. Prepares budget and other forecasting schedules for board review.

  • Creates an environment of partnership, collaboration, seamless quality and service enhancement across teams, departments and divisions of the organization. 
  • Stays informed of current and emerging issues and trends for areas of accountability, CPG and healthcare industry. Communicates and educates staff on requirements, changes, advances, opportunities, directions and projections for the future.
  • Thinks and acts in ways that supports CPG strategy, vision and plans. Identifies opportunities for new business growth and development, expansion of current services, etc.
  • Practices fiscal accountability. Encourages staff and team accountability by involving them in budget preparation, identifying ideas for increasing efficiency, cost savings, developing and growing the business and existing services.
  • Measures and monitors budget and business development plans; provides ongoing updates to staff.
  • Achieves or exceeds budget and business growth and profitability targets.
  • Makes effective hiring decisions; completes the 90-day orientation process for new employees.
  • Identifies staff's individual skills and interests; provides timely, positive, constructive feedback; addresses performance gaps as they occur with clear action plans and timelines for improvement.
  • Supports ongoing learning and skill development for self and staff; provides coaching and mentoring; assigns stretch goals, cross-training and other opportunities for career development within CPG.
  • Involves staff in planning and decision-making as appropriate. Holds staff accountable for follow-through and results.
  • Facilitates change readiness and agility among staff and teams.
  • Uses timely, effective communication methods to update staff on departmental and organizational priorities and progress.
  • Creates a culture of respectful communication by listening, demonstrating approachability, practicing meeting, voicemail and e-mail courtesy.
  • Asks for staff input; encourages diverse perspectives and solutions, drawing from staff, peers, physicians, patients and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively across departments and sectors of organization; within all levels of management; with patients, visitors, other customers, etc.
  • Acknowledges and celebrates individual and team contributions.
  • Assists the Director, CPG Finance with overseeing CPG financial reporting of companies for which this positions provides financial oversight.
  • Directs and participates in the development of accounting and internal control policies and systems related to CPG.
  • Provides advice and assistance to department heads and managers in analyzing and interpreting financial data and reports and in presenting that information to their departments.
  • Ensures that accurate information is provided on a timely basis and assists, as needed, in facilitating the efficient conduct of external audits, examinations and related financial projects.
  • Ensures that a monthly time schedule is established for the processing of computer reports necessary for the preparation of monthly financial statements; implements corrective action as necessary to meet established deadlines.
  • Oversees the preparation of annual budget and long range forecasts documents for CPG. Budgets and other forecasts will be shared with Board of Directors, and executive management.
  • Seeks out new uses of software to increase efficiency for Accounting staff.
  • Staff development--seeks out opportunities for staff to keep them challenged, interested, and in pursuit of career and personal goals.
  • Reviews goals and accomplishments of staff during annual performance appraisals.
  • Is vigilant for opportunities for staff as organization changes and/or people leave the organization.
  • Defines and communicates new/revised position responsibilities and/or reporting relationships and determines necessary staffing changes.
  • Regularly encourages staff to search for alternative methods of providing required accounting services in order to build departmental efficiency.
  • Promotes good staffing practices by maximizing the utilization of human resources; forecasts and anticipates the personnel needs of the department with regard to fluctuations in the projected workload; holds staffing at a functional minimum
  • Consistently demonstrates the ability to establish appropriate departmental priorities.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance.
  • 5 years experience including 3 years management experience. Prior healthcare experience.
  • Computer literate - Microsoft Excel, Word, Access exposure. Accounting department management, including exposure to computerized G/L and cash reporting operations. Exposure to physician compensation and productivity reporting. Good people handling and organization skills.

Preferred

  • Advanced degree, CPA.
