The salary range for this position is $35.38 - $47.76 (Hourly Rate)

Location: Sycamore, IL

Hours: full time, 40 hours/week

The Behavioral Health Services Education Coordinator reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

The Behavioral Health Education Coordinator is a licensed therapist who demonstrates exemplary direct patient care and is accountable for both formal and informal staff education as well as student intern education.

The Behavioral Health Services Education Coordinator is an educator, role model, staff/patient advocate, change agent, and leader. This position designs, develops, implements and evaluates a variety of educational offerings in order to improve clinical care and clinical/organizational outcomes. This role elevates the standard of professional practice and the organization by developing, coaching and mentoring staff to become experts in their scope of practice and leaders.

This role will also have responsibility to support NM Kishwaukee Hospital Behavioral Health Services and NM Ben Gordon Center Managers and Compliance Officer.  The Education Coordinator will collaborate with Managers and Compliance Officer in creation of onboarding, educational and training materials. 

The Coordinator will report to NM Behavioral Health Services Manager of Operations with dotted line structure to the other Directors.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducts onboarding, training and supports competency evaluation of new and existing staff.
  • Develops and evaluates initial onboarding and training programs, establishes initial competencies, supports and reinforces onboarding activities.
  • Evaluates orientation of staff, identifies further instructional needs.
  • Tracks completion of employee initial and annual job requirements in alignment with State of Illinois regulations.
  • Coordinates practice level annual competency evaluations. Onboarding or training responsibilities may include evening or weekend hours.
  • Remains clinically proficient within areas of expertise.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

  • Identifies educational needs, develops evidence-based adult education strategies and project plans and implements appropriately.
  • Facilitates formal and informal clinical staff education for system educational initiatives.
  • Develops, evaluates and facilitates appropriate education program record keeping, promotes continuing staff competence.
  • Partners with Behavioral Health leadership team to conduct learning needs assessments.
  • Provides ongoing staff clinical competency feedback, assists manager in establishing and evaluating staff clinical performance expectations.
  • Supports ongoing development of critical thinking skills among clinical staff.
  • Identifies and develops the practice level “mentor” and “preceptor”, acts as a clinical resource to the practice level staff.
  • Supports department quality assurance programs.
  • Participates in the development and education of evidence informed policies, clinical guidelines, procedures, protocols and clinical tools.
  • Coordinates or partners with universities to organize and onboard student affiliations and participates in curriculum development, as appropriate.

QUALITY IMPROVEMENT

  • Participates in assurance of regulatory requirements and training, implementation of quality metrics.
  • Identifies areas of opportunity to streamline work processes, improve workflow and achieve clinical staff top of license practice. Proficient in use of DMAIC or PI tools.
  • Identifies and resolves problems related to the work environment and the quality and safety of care and services, actively participates in quality and process improvement projects.
  • Contributes to innovation, knowledge dissemination, evidence-informed practice and research initiatives by participating in activities such as conferences and journal clubs.
  • Supports NM Behavioral Health Services with process improvement or quality initiatives.
  • May perform other duties as assigned
  • Ability to utilize established research critique guidelines when reviewing evidence-based articles

Qualifications

Required:

  • Master’s degree in social work, Psychology, Counseling, or related field
  • Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker,
  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Clinical Psychologist
  • Minimum of 3 years clinical experience in relevant patient care Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and evaluate educational plans, with a focus on the principles of adult learning.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to travel to and from multiple work sites.

Preferred:

  • Bilingual
  • Experience with EPIC (EMR)
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel
  • Experience and training in assessment, individual, family, and group counselling
    Experience working with substance abuse and mental health populations.
