The salary range for this position is $40.00 - $40.00 (Hourly Rate)

Description

A Day in the Life of a Radiology Technologist at Northwestern Medicine

This position is capable of taking any or all types of radiographs with several different types of equipment. He/she functions as the first line interface with patients/customers in the successful accomplishment of their imaging needs.

Responsibilities:

1.1 Demonstrates I-CARE values (Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Excellence) in daily work and interactions.

1.3 Provides accurate information and timely updates to patients and customers. Addresses questions and concerns promptly, or identifies appropriate

2.2 Manages work schedule efficiently, completing tasks and assignments on time.

2.4 Participates in efforts to reduce costs, streamline work processes, improve and grow services we provide.

3.1 Utilizes markers on a consistent basis.
3.2 Instructs and prepares patients for radiographic and/or fluoroscopic examinations.
3.3 Demonstrates overall knowledge of exams.
3.4 Produces high quality films on a consistent basis.
3.5 Understands and properly uses CR, the PRID, ADC Multiloader, and QS workstation.
3.6 Writes complete patient histories for the radiologists.
3.7 Utilizes PACS with few errors.
3.8 Demonstrates overall efficiency of work and time. Utilizes slow time constructively, i.e., stocking rooms, emptying linen, putting away supplies,
helping transport, etc.
3.9 Assesses patient pain interfering with imaging procedure. Makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.
3.10 Demonstrates knowledge of how to access Pyxis, what medications are available for what procedures and understands that the doctor verifies the
correct medication upon receipt.
3.11 Practices medical and surgical aseptic procedures (i.e. good handwashing).
3.12 Multitasks in several areas.
3.13 Acknowledges exams on a timely basis and completely.
3.14 Follows dress code as stated in the policy.
3.15 Performs Kronos functions such as clocking in/out, vacation time, working in different departments and PTO correctly.

 3.16 Clocks in on time and is on the floor at their designated starting time.
3.17 Performs the AIDET conversation with all patients every time.
3.18 Abides by all the standards of behavior for the department.

4.1 Takes X-ray call according to monthly schedule that is posted; does not have to be reminded.
4.2 Interacts professionally with patient/family and other hospital personnel.
4.3 Attends staff meetings or reads the minutes.
4.4 Demonstrates willingness to help co-workers.
4.5 Conducts personal conversations quietly and away from the patients.
4.6 Uses the 79999 call center correctly and reports issues personally.

5.1 Assists in training of students.
5.2 Instructs student on imaging improvement.
5.3 Involves student in the exam.
5.4 Demonstrates good communication skills with the student.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Graduation from an approved school of Radiology Technology, either college affiliated or hospital trained.
  • Basic computer knowledge. Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
  • Physical Demands Requirement:
    • Physical demands required for this role include lift/carry up to 50 pounds and a push/pull force up to 50 pounds

Preferred:

  • Experience as a technologist is recommended.
  • BS degree preferred.
  • Additional languages preferred.
