The Technical Coordinator Nuclear Medicine reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Under the direction of the Radiology Manager and in collaboration with the Medical Director of Nuclear Medicine, the Technical Coordinator has the responsibility and accountability for ensuring the technical competence of the staff and for the development and implementation of all clinical protocols. This position facilitates the operational activities related to quality patient care and overall department function. In addition to performing all the duties of the Nuclear Medicine Technologist, the Technical Coordinator Imaging assumes a lead role in daily operations, equipment performance, quality management and takes on responsibilities as assigned by the Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Designs and coordinates orientation programs for Nuclear Medicine Technologists and students, where applicable
- Trains technical staff in applying clinical protocols and techniques for Planar, SPECT, SPECT/CT, PET/CT, and other nuclear modalities
- Provides and coordinates technical in-service education programs/reviews to continuously develop staff technically, educationally, and professionally.
- Provides technical assessment of Nuclear Medicine Technologists to assist Radiology Manager in annual performance reviews
- Assists in the development of departmental policies and procedures in relation to technical standards and compliance.
- Coordinates/communicates equipment service and preventative maintenance schedule. Collaborates with medical physicists to determine corrective action if needed.
- Participates in new radiopharmaceutical, equipment, protocol, and study review and evaluation. Coordinates respective training of staff.
- Leads technical evaluation, implementation, and overall execution of research studies, where applicable. Coordinates with NM Office of Research and Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine Research Imaging Collaboration Office (RICO) to ensure highest technical quality and study compliance.
- Stays current with industry knowledge of all Nuclear Medicine equipment, tracers, and clinical programs.
- Facilitates communication with Nuclear Medicine radiologists to assure quality of images and protocols.
This position is full-time, 80 hours per pay period, day shift, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, no weekends, no holidays.
Qualifications
Required
- Graduate of accredited Nuclear Medicine Technologist Program
- Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Nuclear Medicine (N)
- Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) licensure
- Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association
Preferred
- 3 or more years of experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
