Description

Hours are:  7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. rotating 2Xs per week.

 

The position of Registered Nurse of the Imaging and Diagnostic Center is responsible for all patient preparation for procedures.  This position is also responsible for the Point of Care Testing required for the procedures.  Responsible for calling critical values to referring physicians. The nurse is the patient’s ambassador at the Center.

  • Manages the patient preparation area in the Imaging and Diagnostic Center.
  • Identifies patient requirements per protocol for each procedures in the Imaging and Diagnostic testing area.
  • Orders and manages all pharmaceuticals for the Center.
  • Performs all patient input data requirements for all procedures in the Center.
  • Greets patients and informs them of the procedure and documents in Epic.
  • Informs technologists when patient is ready for procedure.
  • After completion of procedure, informs patients of any follow-up, when test results will be complete, and answers any questions.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations following OSHA guidelines.
  • Protects patients and co-worker by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
  • Performs routine patient procedures, preparing for and/or providing IVs, injections and the like.
  • Maintains all nursing protocols for the Center.
  • Documents patient care services/preparation in the EMR.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all information according to HIPAA guidelines.
  • Starts IVs for all contrast procedures.
  • Calls Ultrasound patients that require test preparation to give them instructions.
  • Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Maintains a cooperative relationship among the Center’s healthcare teams by communicating information, responding to requests, building rapport, participating in team problem-solving methods.
  • Perform POC testing and document in EMR.
  • Must obtain and properly document vitals and patient history in the EMR (e.g. height, weight, BP, temperature, history, current medications, allergies etc.).
  • May be required to draw and collect lab specimens from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.   

Qualifications

Required:

  • Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.
  • BSN degree within 3 years of hire date.
  •  CPR certification through the American Heart Association.

Preferred:

  • Experience in ambulatory setting is preferred. 
  • Experience with Epic a plus.
