The salary range for this position is $16.60 - $23.24 (Hourly Rate)

Description

This position requires various start times:  6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., 12:15 p.m. - 8:45 p.m.

 

Under direct supervision of the Assistant Supervisors and Nutrition and Food Service Supervisor of the unit to which assigned, assists in preparation, serving and distribution of patient and/or employee meals and nourishments; works in dishroom and assists in cleaning duties as assigned.  Is respectful and works cooperatively with others.  Performs other inherent duties related to but not limited to the following.

RESPONSIBILITIES

When Assigned to Patient Trayline:

1.  Prepares, fills, sets up, works and cleans assigned station for tray assembly each meal.

2.  Dishes out servings according to menu.  Use appropriate scoops and ladles.

3.  Prepares between-meal nourishments and tube feedings using proper methods and follows standardized recipes.

4.  Completes and follows Computrition work sheets as required.

5.  Follows posted job routine schedule.

6.  Properly operates and cleans all trayline/nourishment area equipment.

7.  Sweeps and mops all trayline, nourishment and cart storage area floors.

8.  Maintains high standards of cleanliness, safety and sanitation.

 When Assigned to Patient Tray/Nourishment Delivery:

1.  Transports food and late tray carts to designated floors.

2.  Returns food and late tray carts to kitchen area at appropriate times.

3.  Delivers patient nourishment orders, late food trays, and department stock orders to patients, nursing station or designated unit.  Signs off on appropriate documents.

4.  Stocks nursing pantries with food supplies and documents amounts as assigned.  Documents refrigerator temperatures.  Rotates products as needed.  Reports problems when noted.

5.  Delivers late trays to patient rooms, properly identifies patients and practices friendly customer service.

When Assigned to Cafeteria:

1.  Assembles, cooks and/or serves food as ordered.

2.  Replenishes entrees and/or supplies as necessary.

3.  Operates cash register as required.

4.  Cleans counters, tables and equipment as necessary.

5.  Follows posted job schedule.

6.  Practices friendly customer service.

When Assigned to Dishroom:

1.  Dismantles and cleans patient food and late tray carts and cafeteria trays.

2.  Scrapes and loads dishes into dishmachine; removes dishes from machine after washing cycle.

3.  Sorts and distributes clean china, silverware, etc., to proper area.

4.  Operates and cleans dishmachine and mulcher as assigned.

5.  Collects and transports garbage, and cardboard to compactor or dock area.

6.  Cleans counters and floors in dishroom, hallway and cafeteria tray loading area and uses appropriate signs as needed.

7.  Uses all chemicals in the trayline and dishroom area appropriately.  Follows MSDS, HMRC and standard precautions.

8.  Uses safe sanitary procedures when handling clean china, utensils, pots, etc.

Other Duties

1.  Attends all mandatary inservices including annual safety reviews.

2.  Projects a customer-friendly image when dealing with all internal and external parties.

3.  Follows all Policies and Procedures.

4.  Other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Exposure to temperature variations depending on assigned area; possibility of minor injury, cuts, burns, slips and falls, some exposure to chemicals, rotate weekends and shifts.

PUBLIC RELATIONS:

Contacts mainly with fellow employees and supervisor within own area; when working the cafeteria and delivering patient trays, nourishments, pantry stock and food carts, courtesy is essential.

Qualifications

Required:

  • No formal education required but must be able to communicate verbally
  • to read and write English in order to understand instructions; menus, daily job descriptions etc.
  • may have to do basic mathematical computations when working the cash register; previous experience not necessary
  • Physical Demands Requirement:
    • Physical demands required for this role include lift/carry up to 12 pounds and a push/pull force up to 50 pounds
