Description

The Lead Clinical Support Tech I, Satellite Labs reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

The position is to help with the day to day operations of the lab in conjunction with supervisors, managers, and directors. This position also requires phlebotomy and other specimen collections, processing specimens, computer activities,and responding to customer requests.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs waived and moderate complexity tests and is familiar with basic lab functions.
  • Performs diagnostic/analytic testing of specimens, interprets, documents and report results to provider.
  • Lead CST performs quality control, maintenance, troubleshoots, and verifies the accuracy of all instrument.
  • Performs EKG for outpatient, preoperative patients and the convenient care inpatients.
  • Require working with the main lab staff, other CC departments, nurses and providers to ensure excellent patient care.
  • May require work at more than one Satellite location, holiday and weekend rotation, and will include sharing of on-call duty with others in the facility.
  • Works in partnership with all lab personnel to ensure that tests are prioritized properly and all work is completed.
  • Identifies and solve problems utilizing appropriate resources with the assistance of a supervisor, manager, pathologist and/or coworkers when appropriate.
  • Responsible for orientation and training of phlebotomy students.
  • Responsible for phlebotomy and EKG competency of all employees.
  • Responsible that all CAP surveys are completed and submitted to CAP website.
  • Responsible for investigating NETS report and other lab related issues.
  • Creates a positive learning environment when instructing new employees. Presents clear and concise information at an appropriate pace that is suitable for learning.
  • Inventories reagents and supplies in the laboratory and is also in charge of ordering supplies
  • Performs all age specific phlebotomy procedures
  • Perform processing and handling specimens for testing and/or for send out to main laboratory.
  • Performs waived and moderate complexity testing as required.
  • Prepare patient and perform electrocardiogram.
  • Understanding of laboratory specimens and the HIS/LIS computer systems.
  • Perform customer service duties and other clerical duties as the job dictates.
  • Maintain organization of work while multi-tasking. Attention to detail is critical. Must be able to follow instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Understands medical terminology.
  • Other duties assigned by supervisor and or lab leadership.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School graduate with phlebotomy training
  • 1 year of NM lab experience
  • Upon hire must provide hard copy of high school diploma and/or transcripts. Must provide proof of Education as stated in the CLIA guidelines.

Preferred:

  • At least 3 years of laboratory experience.
  • Associate or Bachelors degree with phlebotomy experience
