The salary range for this position is $216.35 - $247.60 (Hourly Rate)

Placement within the salary range is dependent on several factors such as relevant work experience and internal equity. For positions represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range is guided by the rules outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.

Description

The VP, Chief Medical Officer, NM LFH reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

 

The Chief Medical Officer works closely with the entity President, CNE and other members of the leadership team in directing the clinical entity.  Develop a culture that is inclusive, cohesive, communicative, transparent, and accountable.   Motivate and lead a collaborative team of clinicians in hospital initiatives, quality improvement projects, manage operations of the entity in a cost-effective manner, and resolve conflict if any. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for advancing the goals of NM with regards to quality, safety, patient satisfaction, operations and other key performance indicators, as well as financial targets within the entity.
  • Performs according to annual goals which are created in collaboration with and directly aligned to those of the Vice President(s) and Senior Vice President(s) in respective service area, including budget targets.
  • Advances clinical initiatives that support the provision of high quality, consistent clinical performance.
  • Advances consistency of practice standards across the hospital.
  • Reviews quality performance and leads physician clinical practice to optimize quality performance.
  • Directs the analysis of quality performance and prioritization of improvement opportunities.
  • Provides senior level support to local and system level functions including; infection control, risk management, safety, and medical staff credentialing functions ensuring the collaboration and coordination of all stakeholders in these processes.
  • Works with the Medical Executive Committees, facilitates system-wide medical staff integration; and consults on an array of issues involving physician and clinical practices.
  • Active participation and responsibility for operating and capital budget forecasting, preparation and management within the entity.
  • Demonstrates excellent leadership ability, strong communication skills, and encourages collaboration and teamwork with all members of the inter-disciplinary team.
  • Responsible for adhering to, and actively participating in, NM’s performance and accountability structures.
  • Oversee local ACMO(s) and Medical Directors including performance, goal development, and recruitment support.
  • Collaborates with system clinical leadership (NMG, RMG, FSM) to advance clinical program development, ensuring alignment with NM strategic priorities while addressing the unique clinical needs of the local operating unit.
  • Participates in the recruitment and selection of physicians to support clinical program growth, balancing system priorities with the specific demands of the local market.

 

Qualifications

Required: 

 

  • Current Illinois medical license in good standing.
  • Shall be and remain a member in good standing of the NM Medical Staff, or have achieved honorary status from an NM Medical Staff.
  • Shall be qualified by training, experience, interest, demonstrated current ability, and board certification in the clinical area covered by the department.
  • Should possess strong interpersonal skills, excellent clinical judgment and quality assessment skills.
  • Strong credibility with physicians with the ability to escalate medical staff concerns, as well as cascade important information at the health system, network or hospital level.
  • Ability to partner with and influence medical staff.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills with the ability to consider multiple stakeholders perspectives.
  • A respected clinical physician with outstanding professional credibility and personal integrity.
  • Demonstrated strong commitment to, and interest in, the duties and responsibilities of the position.
  • Demonstrated ability for teamwork and collaborative problem-solving using an analytical and systematic approach.
  • Excellent communication, organizational skills.
  • Willingness to be on-site, and available to medical staff.
  • Ability to provide leadership to physicians and other health care professionals.
  • Must be knowledgeable about working with an adult population ranging from adolescent to geriatric, including patients with communications barriers, sensory impairment, and physical limitations, including but not limited to developmental, mobility, vision or hearing impairments.
  • Must be able to identify appropriate measures and accommodations to meet the needs of the patient in their age category.
  • Must be able to communicate and interact effectively with patients and family members to resolve issues.
