The salary range for this position is $41.00 - $65.60 (Hourly Rate)

Placement within the salary range is dependent on several factors such as relevant work experience and internal equity. For positions represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range is guided by the rules outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.

Description

The Trauma coordinator  reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Participates in the development, implementation and ongoing assessment of trauma protocols, policies and procedures and the hospital plan for trauma care.
  • Evaluates patient outcomes, consults with other specialists as required and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care related to trauma services.
  • Assists in the development of nursing standards of care for trauma patients in collaboration with appropriate disciplines.
  • Assures compliance to the rules and regulations established for trauma centers by the State of Illinois, Department of Public Health emergency Medical Services and Trauma Center Code.
  • Collects and organizes data for the evaluation nad determination of action plans for continuous quality improvement of trauma services.
  • Enters and supervises data entry into the Illinois Trauma Registry following established guidelines.
  • Coordinates and presents continuing education on trauma care topics for nursing, ancillary and medical staff, and EMS personnel.
  • Coordinates the activities of the Trauma Committee, keeps minutes, maintains correspondence and statistics, provides feedback to clinical staff and represents the hospital at Regional and other meetings as indicated.
  • Assists in the development of nursing standards of care for trauma patients in collaboration with other disciplines.
  • Leads and supports initiatives to prevent injury and promote safety in the community.
  • Participates in the hospital and regional plan for the emergency management of mass casualties and illnesses.
  • Functions as an Emergency Department staff nurse and maintains all required competencies.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelors of Science Nursing
  • Registered Nursing license issued by the State of Illinois
  • Illinois certification, Trauma Nurse Specialist
  • BLS, ACLS and PALS through American Heart Association

Preferred:

  • Certification as CEN, CPEN, CCRN
