Description
**This is a Full Time, salaried position at 40 hours per week located at the Glenview clinic. Schedule is Monday through Friday and is 50-80% clinical.**
The Operations Coordinator, Ophthalmic Technicians reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
The Operations Coordinator, Ophthalmic Technicians is primarily responsible for supervising all technical, clinical support and patient care for various physicians and sub specialists in the department of ophthalmology. This includes assuring that various tests to be performed as well as supporting physicians as their needs arise. The supervisor will serve as a chief liaison between patients and physicians answering questions providing educational assistance.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise all technicians to ensure comprehensive and timely physician exam and work-ups, documentation requirements per physician and documentation guideline requirements and special testing.
- Supervise the timely and professional delivery of ancillary testing, visual fields, biometrics, glasses check, etc.
- Supervise all technical staff to ensure timely and professional communication, messages, pre/ post-operative communication and instruction; telephone triage is performed for all patients.
- Serve as chief liaison between patients and physicians, answering questions and providing educational assistance.
- Responsible for training new staff.
- Supervise the technical staff to ensure timely and professional ordering of supplies, intraocular lenses, instruments, medications, ocular supplies, etc. Assure that all physicians’ supply and equipment needs are met on a daily basis.
- Supervise all technical staff to ensure that continuous instruction of medical students, residents, fellows, new employees and other staff is assured to provide the highest level of patient care and physician support possible.
- Develop daily technician and triage schedules.
- Provide mentoring/coaching to Ophthalmic Technicians in the practice.
- Process practice’s daily billing.
- Schedule patient appointments.
- Participate in formal/informal operations management meetings/discussions.
- Interact with the Call Center personnel with respect to daily triage assignments and protocol.
Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience working as an Ophthalmic Technician.
- Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA).
- Familiar with ophthalmic medical terminology across sub-specialty disciplines.
- Knowledge of operational differences in clinical care provided in various sub-specialties in a physician office setting.
Preferred:
- Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT)
