The salary range for this position is $45.09 - $56.36 (Hourly Rate).

Placement within the salary range is dependent on several factors such as relevant work experience and internal equity. For positions represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range is guided by the rules outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.

Description

The CT Tech Lead reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

The role consists of training and developing technologists in the application of advanced CT imaging protocols and the use of the post processing scanning techniques. Operates equipment to produce diagnostic scans for all age groups for interpretation(s) by a physician.  Maintains proficiency in clinical and equipment competencies in all clinical settings. Participates with interviewing potential associates and completed the daily charges for the CT department.

Responsibilities:

  • Computer proficiency inclusive of ability to enter and data/information.
  • Maintain proper staffing and schedules 4-6 weeks in advance.
  • Work closely with the CT Quality Coordinator to ensure collaboration and standardization with CT protocols system-wide.
  • Ability to rely on experience, judgment and time management skills to plan and accomplish modality and department goals.
  • Conduct and perform mid and yearly performance appraisal.
  • Communicate/document equipment problems and image quality issues for tracking and trending purposes.
  • Performs CTs, positions patient in order to obtain desired CT procedure results. Instructs patient on proper position for required procedures. Calculates and selects proper technical factors for procedures.
  • Assists physicians in performance of examinations by administering contrast media, positioning patients, assisting in sterile and other procedures. Assists physicians with scrubbing. Documents administration of IV contrast material in Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS).
  • Prepares patient according to established CT procedures.  Transports patient between waiting, Emergency Department and CT rooms, ensuring proper identification of patient.  Assists patient with dressing and undressing, if needed.  Assists patient onto and off procedure table.
  • Interviews patient and/or family to obtain brief patient history to determine current health status, identify clinical indications for procedures, ensure patient safety, and identify possible complications.  Completes required documentation for each patient.
  • Verifies physician orders for instructions from requesting physician and consults with the radiologists as necessary.  Consults with physician, nurses and/or other healthcare professionals needed to obtain the highest quality images/diagnostic information.
  • Explains procedure and provides education as appropriate. Communicates reactions, complications, changes in condition etc. to radiologist, physician, supervisor, peers and nursing unit as necessary.
  • Appropriately and accurately transmits and archives data, images, and documentation.
  • Ensures files and records are properly completed with information such as patient’s name, ID number, anatomical views taken, exam date, film/image markers, clinical history, complaints, allergies, etc.  Collects statistics as directed.
  • Reviews images and procedures to determine quality and performs repeat views/series as necessary.
  • Provides clinical direction in CT scanning methods, techniques and procedures to train additional staff members. Participates in orientation, training, annual competency testing, etc. of new personnel and students as needed.
  • Performs equipment warm up, calibration and safety check as needed. Runs hospital computer system. Reports to Supervisor/Manager/Director any equipment malfunctions. Operates equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines for appropriate quality control. Implements corrective action plans if needed.
  • Maintains inventory supply lists for their particular area and places orders using the on-line purchasing system. Ensures adequate supplies kept for all aspects of clinical care, including the stockings of rooms.  Maintains work area in a clean and orderly condition and ensures same is properly supplied for diagnostic procedures.  Ensures sterile packaged supplies are not damaged or outdated.
  • Cross-trains to other appropriate positions as needed.
  • Acts as a steward for quality process improvement and resource management.

Qualifications

Required:

  • A American Registered Radiologic Technology (ARRT)
  • Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA)
  • Computerized Tomography Registered (CT) – Board Certified
  • CPR Certification
  • Physical Demands Requirement:
    •  Physical demands required for this role include lift/carry up to 50 pounds and a push/pull force up to 50 pounds

Preferred:

  • 3-5 years hospital CT experience
