Description

The Radiographer - Cardiovascular reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs all Cardiac Catheterization Lab related radiographic and fluoroscopic imaging procedures and general radiographic and fluoroscopic diagnostic imaging procedures to generate imaging information necessary for the diagnosis and subsequent interventions of inpatients and outpatients.
  • Performs and assists with obtaining hemodynamic data, digital angiograms, and supports patient care activities. Services provided are in accordance with industry standards, department protocols, and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate the request for radiographic service and assesses the patient to determine the appropriate procedure protocol and method of application
  • Appropriately employs imaging systems and accessory devices to generate radiographic and fluoroscopic images
  • Performs interventional radiographic procedures
  • Cares for the patient throughout the procedure according to department and hospital standards of patient care, age-specific sensitivities, and patients' first/best patient experience guidelines
  • Participate in lifting and transporting patients to and from imaging devices and procedure room
  • Reviews and evaluates the resultant images for comparison with section and industry standards - takes corrective action as needed to achieve and maintain standards
  • Documents imaging procedures electronically
  • Positions patients to gain access for procedure and to best demonstrate anatomic area while respecting patient privacy and comfort
  • Maintains principles of asepsis
  • Monitors stock of supplies in imaging rooms to assure their regular availability by timely reordering, rotation of dated items, and by maintenance of a clean and orderly environment
  • Reports incidences of equipment failure, irregularities in equipment performance, and equipment in disrepair to supervisory and/or quality control personnel as soon a possible
  • Performs imaging procedures in accordance with the principles of safe practice and ethical conduct
  • Performs imaging procedures in accordance with safe radiation safety practices as determined by the Illinois Department of Nuclear Safety and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to limit radiation exposure to patient, self and other healthcare team members
  • Manages patients safely and effectively during the imaging procedure having assessed any limitations of the patient's cognitive abilities, psychomotor skills, emotional stability, and sensory capacities (sight, hearing, etc.) and managing accordingly.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Associate's degree in Applied Sciences
  • ARRT certified, IDNS License, BCLS Certification 
  • Maintains competencies and complies with continuing education requirements of credentialing agencies 
  • Understanding of medical terminology
  • Strong computer skills
  • Ability to work productively in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must be detail-oriented and highly organized.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor of Science degree.
