The salary range for this position is $48.50 - $72.75 (Hourly Rate)

Description

The Program Manager, Value Based Care reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

The Program Manager will lead planning and implementation activities for Northwestern Memorial HealthCare. This will include managing a portfolio of projects of strategic and operational importance to the organization. Program Manager will develop project work plans and performance metrics, monitor work plans and metrics to assure activities are executed on-time and on-budget, coordinate the internal and external resources to complete activities as assigned using established Process Improvement and Project Management Methodologies. The Program Manager will effectively communicate at all levels of Management and will work closely with managers, directors and clinicians to develop work plans, metrics and resources to achieve the department’s strategic goals and objectives. 

 

Responsibilities:

This Program Manager position will be a key part of NMHC’s Value Based Care (VBC) team and will be responsible for managing projects that support the performance of VBC contracts and programs. Such projects include, but are not limited to, providing management and organizational structure for the following: implementation of an external population health data tool, performance measure scoping and validation, optimized performance reporting and data exchange processes, and initiatives related to system compliance with interoperability policy. 

  • Responsible for providing Leadership to an assigned portfolio of projects/ initiatives through active engagement of NM Executives (Project Sponsors) and all stakeholders consistently applying NMHC standard project management and process improvement methodologies throughout the project lifecycle of analysis/planning, design, execution, closing as well as value measurement definition.
  • Lead activities including project proposal/charter definition, budget development, resource allocation and management, information distribution and meeting facilitation as well as a comprehensive the planning efforts necessary to establish measure, enhance and report organizational management performance.
  • Works closely with all relevant stakeholders to set program goals, clearly define operational dependencies, develop appropriate performance standards, metrics and reporting tools required for successful program design.
  • Participate in regular project review meetings where status on milestone performance, issues, project changes and budgets; provide proactive, clear, concise and timely communications regarding project status and overall performance reporting among team members, NM Executives (project sponsors) and vendor partners; facilitate continuous exchange of ideas, information and project developments.
  • Demonstrate the ability to deal with the changing environment and to lead/facilitate and manage change efficiently and effectively where appropriate.
  • Unquestionable integrity, credibility and character with demonstrated high moral, ethical behavior.
  • Support the development of executive level presentations that are related to initiatives. 
  • Be responsible for understanding vendor contracts with NMHC to ensure vendor compliance to project schedules, contractual agreements and compliance with NMHC standards.
  • Develops and maintains productive and cordial relationships with clients and team members, serving as a link between multiple parties and entities; effectively manages project risks, issues and problems that arise within the program and recommend mitigation strategies, as needed, to achieve the desired results.
  • Analyzes large data sets to identify program opportunities and provides performance updates for cross-departmental initiatives and executive oversight.
  • Maintains deep understanding of relevant program design and/or governmental policy implications of portfolio, with ability to articulate such implications to key administrative and clinical leaders across the organization.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of health system operations and organizational goalsrecommends solutions that add value, strengthen project or operational outcomes, exhibits and understanding of stakeholder needs; acts as a key interface with internal clinical and operational areas that support new care models
  • Facilitates and executes conversations, partnerships and business development around care model (and associated payment) innovations.
  • Participates in, and represents Value Based Care at key internal NHMC operational and planning meetings. 
  • Collaborates within Value Based Care team for interdepartmental learning and identify opportunities to connect initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

In addition to the qualifications listed above, we are seeking an individual with the following:

  • Demonstrated project management and facilitation skills with multiple stakeholders
  • Strong knowledge of data and analytics
  • Expertise in performance measure build processes, including but not limited to quality measures
  • Effective problem-solving skills

Functions:

  • This Program Manager position in the NMHC VBC team will be responsible for managing all Analytics/IS builds related to commercial contracts and government programs in order to monitor performance and identify opportunities for improvement. These builds include, but are not limited to, the following:
    • Performance dashboards
    • Contract quality measures
    • Utilization management and quality key performance indicators
    • Supplemental data files
  • Facilitates implementation of an external population health data tool with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Facilitates consensus with senior operational and physician leadership regarding key metrics and metric definitions
  • Facilitates prioritization of Analytics/IS build requests
  • Utilizes quality measure and analytics subject matter expertise to inform contract negotiations
  • Support development of interoperability strategy

 

Qualifications

Required:

  • Master’s degree in Business, Healthcare Management, or related field, plus 3 years of healthcare related experience, 2 of which must be specific department experience.
    • In lieu of Master’s degree, may have Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Management, or related field, plus minimum 5 years of healthcare related experience
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Project

Preferred:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in project management or analytics oriented roles, focused on delivering strategic insights to customers/clients
