Description

OB Triage is the entryway to the high-volume Prentice Women’s Hospital. The triage unit functions like an independent emergency room for any patient with a confirmed intrauterine pregnancy. Its 12-bed unit is staffed with an OB/Gyn physician or midwife plus 4 to 5 experienced nurses to help patients though a range of pathology, from routine labor and rupture of membranes to non-OB complaints such as appendicitis and kidney stones.

The OB Triage environment is dynamic and fast-paced with the benefit of support from the full completement of consulting services offered at Northwestern Medicine. This role serves as support and backup for the Labor and Delivery unit and closely collaborates with the L&D Unit Attending to communicate needs for all obstetric patients. Applicants with interest in preserving their OB delivery skills in addition to Triage have the option to also take shifts as a Labor and Delivery in-house unit attending. Shifts are 12 hours (7a/7p shift change time) with a roughly equal balance of days and nights.

As part of the core Triage faculty, you are eligible for:

  1. Paid time off and CME
  2. Competitive salaries
  3. Robust benefits package including 401k match

The flexible shifts and supportive group dynamic have allowed current Triage staff to cultivate outside interests and support a great work-life balance.
