The salary range for this position is $25.83 - $32.29 (Hourly Rate)

Placement within the salary range is dependent on several factors such as relevant work experience and internal equity. For positions represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range is guided by the rules outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.

Description

The Operations Coordinator - Accounting reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

Major duties and responsibilities of this role include coordinating and monitoring the daily activities of the department. This role is also responsible for ensuring accuracy and compliance for the Hospital, its affiliates and support organizations of outgoing payments.  The Operations Coordinator participates in departmental activities to ensure goals are achieved.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the daily activities of the department.  Provide advice and assistance in handling special situations or problems.  Monitor department operations and take appropriate action as necessary to ensure efficient and effective completion of all tasks and projects.
  • Assist Level One manager with the scheduling of daily and monthly work for department to ensure adequate staffing levels to complete required tasks.  Analyze and prioritize work.
  • Develop and implement creative methods of motivation resulting in exceptional staff performance
  • Resolve complex or critical situations involving staff and customers; consult with manager for guidance as needed (e.g., formal complaints, discipline, etc.).  Support operational changes to meet service needs, goals and objectives.
  • Provide a professional and constructive environment to facilitate and coordinate communication across units/departments and resolve operational issues.  May also attend intradepartmental/ interdepartmental meetings in any of the campus buildings or satellite locations and travel to offsite meetings and training.
  • Assess and communicate staff development needs to management.  Develop, coordinate, present and participate in staff education programs.  May conduct routine staff meetings.
  • Participate in staff selection and promotion decisions. May interview and recommend candidates for open staff positions.  Provide input for staff performance evaluations.
  • Ensure that quality and productivity standards are met, Monitor work flow and backlogs and resolve same.
  • Coordinate communication within the department to inform the staff of new or revised goals, policies, procedures, and standards, and solicit their comments regarding department activities, problems and proposed changes.  Provide information and instruction regarding new or revised work methods and/or equipment operation.
  • Coordinate and participate in department’s educational and in-service training programs.  Provide job orientation and staff development training.  Instruct department personnel in new procedures and other administrative financial developments.
  • Responsible for participating in systems testing and validation prior to implementation in production.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of a bachelor’s degree. 
  • Five to seven years of accounting or related experience with knowledge of complex accounting systems required. 
  • Also requires strong leadership, organization, planning and time management skills. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as superior interpersonal skills and demonstrated problem-solving skills.
