Description
The Manager, Conference Center reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
- This individual is responsible for the day to day management of the conference centers in Feinberg, Prentice and Lavin, as well as additional conference rooms throughout campus, including oversight of the audio visual systems across campus, budget and strategic initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage all daily operational activity for Conference Center, including but not limited to, all scheduling of internal meetings and events, external sales and event planning, coordination with catering team, day of event and meeting coordination and set up and any audio visual system activity.
- Manage and mentor Conference Center staff to ensure excellent service and fulfillment of both individual and departmental goals.
- Interact with internal and external clients, including meeting leaders, participants and catering staff to ensure seamless execution of events.
- Demonstrate superb customer service skills.
- Develops and manages department’s annual budget with revenue targets.
- Establish annual rate sheet inclusive of market competitive room rental fees, housekeeping and administrative costs and dedicated audio visual support expense.
- Develop strategic sales and event planning for the space on Lavin 18, including room rental fees, preferred vendor lists and audio visual support.
- Manage all Conference Center equipment and develop strategic replacement plan for furniture and audio visual systems, consistent with NM standards. To the extent standards do not exist, coordinate with campus partners to develop appropriate standards.
- Manage all necessary third party service personnel and work, including audio visual assistance and repairs.
- Responsible for development and improvement of processes and on-line systems providing access to conference center resources
- Development of protocol and strategy around Northwestern Memorial’s audio visual technology creating consistency across the organization.
- Works with the Director to plan and develop the department’s strategic plans and yearly goals.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to build and lead a team
- Strong ability to manage multiple projects and events
- Creative and flexible with exceptional follow-through
- Ability to work in a large, complex environment
Preferred:
- Experience in the hotel or service industry
