The salary range for this position is $29.45 - $41.23 (Hourly Rate)

Placement within the salary range is dependent on several factors such as relevant work experience and internal equity. For positions represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range is guided by the rules outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.

Description

The Financial Analyst reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

The Financial Analyst is responsible for recording transactions, performing analysis activities, and evaluating trends and drivers at Northwestern Medicine. The position will also be charged with the preparation and some review activities related to the month end close process; as well as support for the annual financial statement audit. The analyst will need to understand complex financial concepts in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Meet financial objectives by identifying and evaluating trends; analyzing variances; initiating any corrective actions or adjustments.
  • Prepare reconciliations; analyze variances; and initiate corrective actions on transactions with a high degree of complexity in support for finance and operating departments.
  • Provide support and analysis by querying appropriate data, preparing reports, making presentations of analysis, findings, and recommendations to management.
  • Research and interpret changes in financial reporting policy, applying observations and recommendations to operational issues.
  • Research and understand changes in the healthcare regulatory environment and the potential impact on reporting.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, adopting and implementing industry best practices, and participating in professional societies.
  • Protect operations by keeping financial and patient information confidential.
  • Support the finance operations of Northwestern Medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily maintenance and quarterly audits of the EAP chargeable database.
  • Prepare exports and imports of the EAP database and data courier activities for new department builds.
  • Perform charge testing activities for new departments.
  • Identify charge capture opportunities in revenue producing departments.
  • Review departmental front-end charge capture tools for accuracy.
  • Lead analyst in preparing and managing the process for filing Medicare Provider-Based Status AttestationTroubleshoot complex account errors and assists in education for resolution to Revenue Manager(s).
  • Support complex financial audits and prepares methodology for annual pricing increase.
  • Liaison with both IT and clinical departments to link EPIC and chargemaster.
  • Consistently delivers concrete, relevant results. Displays qualities of resiliency and resourcefulness while thinking strategically and practically when problem solving. In addition to results orientation, displays business knowledge, speed and decisiveness, and project management. resulution. 

Qualifications

Required:

  • Degree in Finance / Accounting or related field
  • 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, analytical, and accounting skills
  • High level of precision and attention to detail
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

 

 

Preferred:

  • Public Accounting experience
  • CPA or CHFP certification
  • Experience with an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, preferably PeopleSoft
  • Healthcare finance experience
