The salary range for this position is $24.85 - $37.28 (Hourly Rate)

Description

The Coordinator Anesthesia Technicians reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Memorial, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

Works with the OR Manager in the management and training of the Anesthesia Technicians, and personnel available for support, maintaining supplies, and maintenance of equipment.  Ensures that Anesthesia is supported throughout the hospital with proper supply level, equipment function and clinical assistance as needed. 

Reports to OR Manager and Medical Director of Surgical Services.  Collaborates with physicians and OR leadership in the development of new programs and processes to determine Anesthesia equipment needs.

Responsibilities:

Clinical Responsibilities:

In addition to the duties of the Anesthesia Tech II position, the RC is responsible for:

  • Training of all staff, on Anesthesia related equipment.
  • Supervises the repair and maintenance of all Anesthesia equipment and instruments.
  • Development of Anesthesia Tech training program and continuing education.
  • Evaluates new equipment for function and cost.
  • Attends and prepares information for the Anesthesia Equipment Committee meetings.
  • Represents the department in various committees and meetings throughout the hospital.
  • Responsible for ordering all anesthesia supplies, equipment and instruments. 

Staffing Issues:

  • Acts as a role model and resource person for the Anesthesia Technicians.
  • Assists the OR Manager in developing and maintaining the Anesthesia Technician staffing schedule.
  • Works with the Staff Educator(s) to meet the continuing educational and mandatory requirements of the Anesthesia Technicians.
  • Screens prospective applicants in interview process.
  • Assists OR manager with employee timecards.
  • Provides feedback / input to the OR Manager on the progress of orientees, staff evaluations, and the staff development needs of the Anesthesia Technicians.
  • Understands and demonstrates “Patients First” philosophy.
  • Maintain mandated Quality Management activities related to equipment and point of care testing.
  • Participates in unit QM strategies and audits.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Basic Life Support (Provider level) through American Heart Association.

Preferred:

  • Certified Anesthesia Technologist.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in a health-related field, and a minimum of 2 years of Anesthesia Technician experience
