The  DME Practice Supervisor  reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

  • Under the direction of the Manager of Durable Medical Equipment the practice supervisor is responsible for the day to day operations of Durable Medical Equipment and maximizes the effectiveness of the service line. The Supervisor facilitates integration and teamwork to ensure the highest level of service and care for patients. The Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the DME service line is performing in conjunction with the mission, vision and values of Northwestern Medicine.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participates in quality improvement processes aimed at driving the highest level of performance.
  • Effectively presents the unique benefits of DME products and services to physicians.
  • Responsible for routine follow-up calls to existing customers to solve problems, evaluate the level of satisfaction, and to prospect for future business.
  • Manages inventory for locations.
  • Participates in quality improvement processes aimed at driving the highest level of performance.
  • Responsible for interview and hiring process for Associates.
  • Responsible for office staff training as it relates to patient experience, point of service collection, registration of patients and patient scheduling, and clinical staff.
  • Assesses competencies as outlined by standard operating procedures and skill levels of Associates.
  • Conducts Performance Management evaluations and coaching of the staff.
  • Initiates disciplinary process for clerical associates not meeting minimum performance requirements.
  • Originates and implements ideas leading to performance improvement in patient care and operational structure. Develops and updates standard operating procedures (SOPs) for clinical functions.
  • Balances point of service collections and prepares payments for deposit.
  • Prepares the office monthly work schedule and ensures adequate FTE allocation.
  • Actively makes sure we are current and up to date with Joint Commission regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned by Durable Medical Equipment Manager.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), or, Registered Polysomnography Technologist (RPSGT)
  • Strong communication skills in speaking and writing
  • Computer experience
  • 2-4 years of position related experience
  • Experience in Durable Medical Equipment

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Knowledge of DME industry
  • Direct healthcare experience with related sales/outreach
