Our paid Summer Internship Program provides students with hands-on experience, professional development, mentorship, and meaningful project work within a premier academic healthcare environment. Interns work alongside experienced preceptors, contribute to impactful projects, and gain valuable exposure to healthcare careers while building lasting professional connections. Many past interns have gone on to begin their careers at Northwestern Medicine.
As an intern, you will:
- Participate in Day 1 New Employee Orientation and learn about Northwestern Medicine's mission, culture, and values.
- Work alongside knowledgeable and compassionate healthcare professionals within a leading academic health system.
- Expand your professional network through workshops, Lunch & Learn sessions, and networking opportunities.
- Gain meaningful, real-world experience that supports your academic and career goals.
- Complete a project and present your accomplishments to leaders and peers at the conclusion of the program.
- Earn competitive hourly pay ranging from $17.05 to $25.00 per hour. Interns are not eligible for benefits.
- Build relationships, develop professional skills, and explore future career opportunities within Northwestern Medicine.

- You must be currently enrolled in a Graduate or Undergraduate program and have completed at least 2 semesters or 30 credit hours by the start of the internship.
- To qualify, you must commit to an 8-week, 10 week, or 12-week summer program at Northwestern Medicine.
- 2027 Internship start dates include:
- May 12, 2027
- May 26, 2027
- June 9, 2027
- June 23, 2027
