The Exercise Physiologist reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

The Exercise Physiologist is a competent, licensed clinical professional who administers care to cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation patients in the Phase II Outpatient Setting.

Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9:30-6pm


  • Responsibilities:

  • Conducts patient interviews to review health history.
  • Documents initial and daily assessment and data into participants records.
  • Develops a plan of care.
  • Prepares and adjusts individual exercise prescription in accordance with exercise test
  • Uses concept of risk stratification to assess severity of disease, expected rate of improvement and long term prognosis.
  • Provides patient education. 
  • Monitors participants, interprets responses to exercise accurately to ensure patient safety. Reports any inappropriate response to exercise.  Terminates exercise as needed.
  • Documents in a timely and accurate manner any clinical findings that require medical follow up.
  • Evaluates desired outcomes and intervenes appropriately.
  • Completes discharge summary and progress note to physician in timely manner.
  • Re-evaluates functional capacity, compliance, and risk factor modification to meet individualized client needs on ongoing basis.
  • Can demonstrate safe and accurate use of all exercise equipment, telemetry monitoring and emergency equipment.
  • Has basic knowledge in EKG interpretation and arrhythmia interpretation.
  • Develops appropriate exercise prescription.
  • Effectively interacts with patient, significant others, and other health team members, while providing care within the scope of his/her training.



  • ACLS within 90 days of hire
  • BLS Certification upon hire
  • Bachelor's of Science in Exercise Science
  • EKG interpretation skills



  • Master's Degree in Exercise Science Physiology
  • ACSM Exercise Specialist certification or RCEP certification
