The Director, Nursing Operations reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.


Responsible for communicating and supporting the mission statement, philosophy and objectives of Palos Hospital and the department of nursing.

Leads clinical nurse leaders and charge nurses (and therefore staff) to excellence in mentoring subordinates, promoting an environment where interdisciplinary excellence in the care of patients and families are met on a continual basis.

Ensures that the infrastructure and processes for nursing excellence are created and sustained including the involvement of nurse leaders in the professional nurse participation in scholarly and professional nursing activities.

Responsible for interpreting, communicating and enforcing hospital and nursing policies and procedures.

Supports the implementation of scholarly endeavors such as research, evidence -based practice, publications and presentations.

Maintains effective communication skills and working relationships with management team, staff, physicians and ancillary departments.

Responsible for analyzing nursing services to assure quality patient care as well as developing, implementing and evaluating corrective action plans when opportunities for improvement are identified.

Responsible for responding to needs and/or problems and when appropriate; referring those requiring administrative decision to the Vice President of Nursing.

Responsible for establishing and implementing a program for safety training for all employee within the supervised units.

Responsible for maintaining departmental records and statistics.

Responsible for preparing of the budget and control of expenditures.



  • Master's degree in Nursing, Business Administration or Healthcare Administration (or in progress to obtain within three years of assuming this role)
  • Registered Nursing license issued by the State of Illinois
  • Seven to ten years progressive management roles including management of capital and operational budgets
