Description

**This is a Full Time, salaried position at 40hrs per week located at Lake Forest Hospital and requires travel to McHenry/Huntley Hospitals.**

The Systems Engineer, Patient Throughput reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

The Systems Engineer, Patient Throughput, in collaboration with the Project Director and Program Manager Patient Throughput, supports efforts to improve patient throughput at LFH. The Systems Engineer will lead analyses applying systems engineering methods for operational excellence in support of projects to maximize our existing capacity and patient flow.

Responsibilities:

• Provides support and advice on analyses to throughput and capacity problems as well as support to ongoing throughput improvement initiatives.
• Works directly with Throughput Program Manager to select methods, develop scope of projects, outline effort projections and finalize workplans for active and future throughput initiatives
• Works directly with Throughput Program Manager, Director and analytics teams to create monitoring metrics and tools to facilitate detection and solution of throughput issues
• Facilitate communication with operations process owners to develop/design standard work to reduce variation
• Develop methods, labor utilization standards, and cost analysis systems to promote efficient staff and facility utilization
• Real-Time Demand Capacity (RTDC) co-leader, facilitating the daily bed meetings and coordinating efforts to address leading drivers of delayed discharge
• Support LFH operational managers and directors in throughput improvement efforts
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelors degree in Healthcare Systems Engineering or similar
• 1-3 years of relevant experience in operations/healthcare
• Proven analytical skills in the areas of statistical analysis and data science to leverage the use of big data.
• Patient throughput-related project and team management experience
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• High level of energy and enthusiasm
• Flexible/adaptable ability to work with diverse group of healthcare professionals
• Effective problem solving and multi-tasking skills
• Proven software competencies (Minitab, Excel, Power Point)

Preferred:

• Masters degree (e.g. MBA, MHA, MEM)
• Familiarity with Epic (Electronic Health Record)
