The Inventory Technician reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

The Inventory Technician is responsible for operating material handling equipment, checking and providing documentation, and conducting systems transactions for accurate receiving, processing and shipping, including unloading, scanning, moving, locating, relocating, picking, staging, loading, stacking, and ordering products in the Grayslake Procurement Operations Center. These activities should meet or exceed the requirements of the organization and be accomplished at the most favorable cost and efficiency within a challenging and fast-paced environment.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Oversees the planning, operation, repair, and maintenance of heating/cooling, electrical, emergency power, fire protection systems, plumbing, grounds and carpentry.
  • Identifies and recommends changes and improvements in the facility to be consistent with appropriate codes and authorities to ensure safe operation.
  • Ensures compliance in conjunction with NM Workforce Health and Safety, federal, state, and local regulatory and accrediting agency standards and guidelines for facilities operations.
  • Coordinates construction, remodeling and renovation projects to include managing and communicating scheduled utility interruptions, and ensuring that contractual provisions and construction schedules are met, satisfy standards of NM Workforce Heath and Safety and government regulations and codes.
  • Ensures utility systems and equipment are adequate to support the facility operations and that utility system redundancy plans and emergency procedures are developed and implemented in event of failure.
  • Assists with development and updates for policies, procedures, and practices to improve the operational effectiveness and safety of the facility.
    Supervision of cleaning and waste management services
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by Facility Operations Manager

 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Will occasionally lift up to 25 lbs. without assistance
  • Must be able to stand up majority of the workday
  • Must have functional speech, vision, and hearing
  • Will be exposed to chemical hazards; therefore, must have the ability to wear protective clothing as needed

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or acceptable equivalent.
  • One year experience of proper lifting techniques and safe use of materials handling equipment, both manual and powered is required, along with operating warehouse software.
  • Experience using: high bay fork lift (reach truck), high bay order picker, electric and manual pallet jacks (evidence of previous certification will be required during the recruitment process).
  • Computer literate – Microsoft Excel, Word, etc.
  • Ability to organize workload and set priorities.
  • Problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • English fluency.

Preferred:

  • Associates degree in related field.
  • Experience working in a healthcare environment.
  • Process Improvement skills and analytical ability.
