Description

The Manager Operations is an operational leader who is responsible for daily operations of the assigned departments. The Manager Operations is responsible for effective daily clinical service operation and ensuring that requirements for patient satisfaction, employee engagement, quality, service and value are met and sustained. This individual serves as a proactive catalyst for operational change in support of PI/QI initiatives, DMAIC projects, and is directly accountable for creating change in the environment. The Manager Operations is responsible for aspects of personnel management including payroll, hiring, corrective action and performance evaluations including real time feedback. Responsible to create a professional practice environment that focuses on the customer. Will be expected to have schedule flexibility to coach, mentor staff around PI/QI initiatives, quality indicators and other unit initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Mentors and coordinates education for all members of the team to provide excellent care to the patient population.
- Oversees the creation of and holds the team accountable for clinical practice guidelines according to current best evidence.
- Provides real-time, ongoing and scheduled feedback in a constructive, supportive manner.
- Collaborates with medical directors, director, staff and members of inter-departmental multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient care and outcomes for the designated patient population.
- Participates in the identification, development and implementation of innovative process/quality improvement initiatives to address patient care challenges while maintaining a balance of cost effectiveness and quality of care.
- Engages in a formal process seeking feedback regarding one's own practice from patients, peers, professional colleagues and others as identified.
- Serves as teacher/coach/mentor to front-line staff members performing patient management activities.
- Disseminates research findings to front-line staff and participates in research activities in partnership with Northwestern Medicine teams.
- May provide patient care when necessary
- Systematically compares and contrasts clinical findings with normal and abnormal variations in formulating an appropriate differential diagnosis based on the integration of complex assessment data.
- Identifies expected outcomes which promote cost effectiveness, patient satisfaction and continuity amongst providers, that incorporate scientific evidence and are achievable through the implementation of evidence-based practice.
- Provide oversight to designated team members within the established departments.
- Manages staff relations including hiring, performance management, employee engagement, corrective action and conflict resolution.
- Performs and oversees scheduling, recruitment, payroll and student/outside department observations.
- Monitors productivity metrics, regulatory compliance, required education compliance, licensure compliance
- Foster staff members professional development and assist in achieving professional goals
- Promote culture of safety and hold team accountable for using safety tools and behaviors through ensuring daily safety huddles occur and monthly RTI is completed
- Promote teamwork through effective, professional communication
- Manage resources efficiently and effectively – supplies and staff measured by I & E reports and productivity metrics, facilitate cross training and hold team accountable for maintaining cross training
- Generates annual budget, monitors financial performance in department, accountable for managing expenses to budget and actively participating in financial improvement planning activities.
Qualifications
Required:
- Master’s degree: MHA, MBA or Nursing
- 2 years experience in relevant clinical specialty
- BLS certified
- ACLS certified
Preferred:
- 5 years experience in relevant clinical specialty
- Advanced Certification in relevant subject area
