Description

The System Director, Ambulatory Pharmacy Services reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

The System Director, Ambulatory Pharmacy Services (SDAP) is responsible for strategic planning, growth and integration of Specialty Pharmacy, Home Infusion Pharmacy and Ambulatory Clinical Pharmacy Services. The SDAP will report directly to the VP of Pharmacy.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and support implementation of comprehensive programs for Specialty Pharmacy, Home Infusion Pharmacy and Ambulatory Clinical Pharmacy Services to improve appropriate medication utilization, patient outcomes and adherence, and provider knowledge of market changes. Understand how best to integrate these entities in order to optimize patient care and financial performance.
  • Oversee implementation, measurement, and tracking of program process and outcomes working with a multidisciplinary team of NM’s ambulatory teams and NMPN physicians.
  • Promote an environment of continuous survey readiness. Identify strategic accreditation opportunities to support growth plans of ambulatory pharmacy programs.
  • Support targeted outreach programs to achieve improvement in clinical outcome, cost savings, and performance targets related to pharmacy measures.
  • Oversee assistance of the managed care contracting staff in obtaining appropriate language to enable appropriate pharmacy data flow and to identify opportunities for pharmacy related performance incentives.
  • Identify opportunities for Pharmacy Network Participation in order to optimize patient access to care. Justify network participation through robust analysis and modeling.
  • Develop and facilitate MTM for disease state management, drug regimen reviews, and collaboration with providers who have patients with chronic medical conditions.
  • Sponsor and drive performance of value based care initiatives focused on pharmacy utilization.
  • Ensure the team works to identify gaps in patients’ medication adherence, communicating with patients’ providers, patients, and the NM’s ambulatory care coordination team to assist in identifying barriers and developing plans to maximize patients’ health through improving or maintaining adherence to medication.
  • Ensure consultation with medical providers on optimal drug therapy and drug therapy management is completed on a frequent basis.
  • Hold leadership teams accountable for successful operations for all Specialty Pharmacy, Home Infusion Pharmacy and Ambulatory Clinical Pharmacy Services and therapeutic related topics, including leading discussions around evidence-based guidelines, clinical pathways, formulary selection and performance reporting.
  • Work with other system and pharmacy leadership to ensure alignment of service line with inpatient and ambulatory pharmacy initiatives through collaborative workgroups or other relevant venues.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Graduate of an accredited college of pharmacy.  
  • Licensure or eligible for licensure to practice pharmacy in Illinois.
  • Completion of an accredited residency.
  • Proven success in managing financial operations, personnel, quality functions, and the professional aspects of pharmacy practice.    
  • Evidence of effective communication skills both oral and written with a high degree of professionalism and competence in dealing with all levels of internal and external customers 
  • Ability to develop, organize, and accomplish goals.
  • Comprehension of 340B program
  • Technically competent knowledge of pharmacy IS Systems, automated medication dispensing systems, physician order entry, and bar coding applications.
  • Ability to quickly implement change as required by federal, state and other regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to analyze/evaluate data and make appropriate recommendations/decisions.
  • Preparation and analysis of operating budgets and capital equipment evaluation.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a health care institution.    

Preferred: 

  • 7 to 10 years of pharmacy experience in a health care institution.
  • PGY-2 Pharmacy Administration Residency
  • Master of Health Care Administration
  • 2+ years of Director Level Experience
  • Leadership experience in Specialty Pharmacy and Home Infusion
